Interdiction du vaudou en Haiti : la primature dénonce et dément

Depuis quelques temps, plusieurs faits laissent entrevoir un élan de persécution religieuse en Haiti. Aux Cayes, un pasteur a attaqué, fin 2017, le péristyle d’un houngan. A Carrefour, début 2018, le même scénario s’est reproduit où un groupe de religieux s’en est pris à un temple vaudou.

En plus de ces incidents dénoncés par de nombreuses voix, depuis quelques jours, une note portant le nom du chef du Gouvernement haïtien, Jack Guy Lafontant, interdisant la pratique du vaudou sur le territoire nationale, circule à grande vitesse sur les réseaux sociaux.

Cette énième action n’a pas laissé indifférente la Primature qui qualifie la note en question d’ « acte de déstabilisation ».

Dans un communiqué rendu public ce lundi, la Primature « dénonce » cette note circulant sur les réseaux sociaux concernant le fonctionnement du secteur vodou dans le pays ». « La Primature n’a rien à voir avec cette note interdisant le fonctionnement du secteur vaudou dans le pays », affirme dans un entretien téléphonique avec Loop Haiti, Richardson SERAPHIN, Directeur de communication de la primature.

La position de la Constitution haitienne est limpide. Dans l’article 30 - Section D, il est stipulé : « Toutes les religions et tous les cultes sont libres. Toute personne a le droit de professer sa religion et son culte, pourvu que l’exercice de ce droit ne trouble pas l’ordre et la paix publics ».

Ainsi, pour éviter toute situation de dérapages et de persécutions religieuses, la Primature rappelle les dispositions de la Constitution en rapport à la liberté des cultes et de la région, et invite la population à garder son calme.
